West California Academy of Art and Design (WCAAD) is a great school for young students who are applying to art colleges. I came in with skills of a casual artist and came out as a better artist with new skill sets and a new perspective. I didn't realize that I wanted to pursue art as a career until the second semester of my junior year. Not only that, I wanted to pursue animation, one of the most competitive majors out there. I knew that if I wanted to get in to the most prestigious art school, I had to take a portfolio and life drawing class.
My experience with the school was very helpful and my teachers—Omar and Jack—are very knowledgeable and masterful in their craft. I took Omar's instructed life drawing class and Jack's digital arts and animation class. With their help, I was able to build a phenomenal portfolio that got me into 6 art schools (SVA, MICA, Ringling, SAIC, LCAD, and Pratt) with merit scholarships.
I honestly wouldn't have gotten to where I am today without the school and I strongly believe that it's a school aspiring artists should consider.

In three short months, my son's artwork has improved significantly under Mr. Gavin's teaching, and has received many compliments from family and friends. He always looks forward to his art class at West California Academy Art & Design every Saturday! We plan to continue his art studies here for as long as possible! |
My daughter attended WCAAD since she was three. She's now six and still loves drawing so much, as it is the only thing that can keep her calm for hours. She's very thoughtful and creative. She's also won a lots of competitions, thanks to the education she's receiving from WCAAD! Our daughter loves her big, second family at the Academy! |
